Foods to Eat Everyday – Part 1

Hippocrates said, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” This message resonates deep within me. I am a true believer in the power of food and nutrition. That’s why Alex and I have ‘foods to eat everyday’ on our Vision Board. (If you missed my post on Building Your Vision Board be sure to check it out!) Below are just a few of the super foods that we prioritize and seek to incorporate into our diets daily.


Oats are clearly an obsession of ours (which is evident with all of our oat-based products). Oats are a whole grain high in fiber and protein. There are so many health benefits of oats including lowering bad cholesterol, helping control blood pressure, and a study published by the British Journal of Nutrition found that oats may reduce the risk of asthma in children. Our typical breakfast includes oats…I am pretty sure Alex eats Super Oats 360 days of the year…!


Blueberries are one of the best fruits–they are low in sugar and packed with antioxidants. Blueberries boast a ton of health benefits including that they may help protect against cancer, may lower blood pressure, and may help improve memory. Alex and I like to buy organic frozen blueberries from Costco, then we can eat them year-round. They are my favorite topped on our Super Oats Pancakes. We try to eat a handful of blueberries everyday.


Walnuts are not only buttery and delicious, but I also feel that they are also one of the best nuts you can be eating. Walnuts have a number of health benefits including the positive impact they have on brain health and their high percentage of healthy omega-3 fatty acids. We eat walnuts mixed into our oatmeal, blended into our smoothies, or as we snack on our Apple Walnut Delight Oat Clusters.

All three of these foods are perfect for breakfast. Try to incorporate one or all of them into our daily breakfast routine.
