Watching My Garden Grow

For the first time in my life, I have a garden and I am IN LOVE with it! The best part is having fresh herbs available to add delicious flavor to meals! I am obsessed with fresh pesto (for those of you who may not know this, we originally started Love Grown Foods because we wanted to sell our fresh pesto, but quickly realized that a perishable product came with a lot of challenges). Having basil exploding in my garden has been INCREDIBLE! I make a batch of pesto every few weeks and put it on everything — from fish, to salads, to omelets!I also LOVE other fresh herbs. To be able to go out and pick a variety of flavors right from my garden to add into salads, dressings/marinades, and onto rubs/sauces has been so wonderful. Our garden is flourishing and we LOVE it! Check out some of the progress…

So, now that you know a little secret into Love Grown Foods (that we originally thought we were starting a pesto company), let me share an AMAZING pesto recipe with you to try at home!

-3 cups fresh basil leaves
-1/2 cup fresh cilantro
-2 tablespoons fresh parsley
-3 fresh sage leaves
-1 tablespoon fresh savory
-2 cloves of garlic
-1/2 jalapeno (seeds removed)
-1/4-1/2cup olive oil (pour slowly until desired consistency is reached)
-handful pine nuts (or nuts of choice)
-2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
-sea salt & pepper to taste

-Blend all ingredients (except nuts) in a food processor until smooth, scraping sides regularly. Blend in nuts (leave it a little chunky for added texture if you desire). Enjoy!

Spread LOVE,
