While we’ve all been patiently waiting for a TS13 announcement, here we are at GLG13! Like Taylor, we’ve got some big news (especially if you’re in the Northeast). Love Grown cereal is available in its first retailer!!!!
Why we’re exploring retail for cereal
“To try Love Grown cereal is to love it” - something someone smart said once
One of our favorite things to do is talk about our cereal with our customers. Why? Because they ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. It’s the reason we brought it back from near extinction even when it seemed impossible. Because people who’ve tried it get it. And they don’t want to go back to regular old cereal.
The problem with selling cereal on our website?
It’s hard to try.
Yes, you can buy a box of cereal from us for $6.79. But by the time you pay shipping, it can be hard to justify. And six or seven boxes to get you over that free shipping minimum? If you haven’t tried it before? I get it - that’s a real barrier.
Something we hear a lot from cereal lovers:
“we’d love for you to sell this where I buy my groceries. That way it’s not another trip, and I can just get one or two boxes and it’s easy and I can try it first.”
And we know once you try it, you’ll fall in love. The crunch, the flavor, the protein and fiber that actually fill you up. The just the right amount of real sugar. The PURITY AWARD. All of the things we are free from (including allergens!). There’s a lot to love about LG.
So - we’re listening. We want to make it easy to try Love Grown. So we’re bringing it to you.
Why we’re starting small
As Scott (our teammate and master of retail) always says “you don’t just show up to retail and expect it all to work.”
It can be hard, and expensive, to get noticed and to sell enough to stay “on shelf” once you’ve gotten into a retail store.
So we’re starting small. Our goal is to be focused, learn as we go, and grow thoughtfully so that we can keep making Love Grown for the long run AND make it more and more accessible over time.
Now at Fresh Direct
We’re proud to share that you can get our three best selling cereals at Fresh Direct if you’re in the NY metro area. Fresh Direct is an amazing first partnership for us - we’re big fans of their grocery delivery (even more so after learning how other online grocery delivery services treat their workers) and we’re local to NY and can do what we do best (introduce people to Love Grown in real life).
If you’re a fan of Fresh Direct, we hope you’ll check out our cereal on their site. Even better, leave a review. Every little bit helps.
We hope this is the start of even more access to Love Grown cereal.
A few special hacks for those not in the NYC area:
-
Add Love Grown cereal to your existing orders - shipping charge, who is she?

The bonus: cold brew in Japan
Dani (my new husband) and I just got back from a wonderful honeymoon in Japan. It was amazing!
Cold Brew is always a thing when we travel because we just can’t live without it. Really - I mean it. We bring brew bags almost everywhere we go. Alas, since we hadn’t been to Japan before we chickened out and left them at home.
Our multitude of cold brew stops taught me a few things:
-
The Japanese are artisans at everything they do. Our favorite cold brew we had was at a small shop in Takayama, where the barista refused to let us put oat milk in our cold brew (it was very light in flavor and so “not made” for milk). It was still delicious.
-
To-go culture is not nearly as prevalent in Japan, so to-go cups were often pretty limited. The coolest one we found was Stumptown (it was like a cardboard pouch, I wish I had taken a pic!).
-
We spent a portion of every day (really!!) looking for cold brew. And it got me thinking about the lengths we’re willing to go to for our favorite emotional support beverage. Why do we do it? What is it about starting the day with cold brew that can’t be emulated by any other beverage, coffee or otherwise? Why did I spent an extra 10-15 minutes searching google maps for coffee shops that explicitly carried cold brew (and can someone please make that a feature because google maps is often wrong)? If you know what I’m talking about, this one’s for you.
With love and beans,
Katie
