New CLP Cereal Study: We Made the Honor Roll

Four cereals out of seventy-seven! We're one of them! Yay!

This week Clean Label Project published its 2026 cereal study. They bought 77 cereals off the shelf, the same way you do, and tested every one for arsenic, lead, glyphosate, pesticides, and acrylamide. Only four passed every screening. Power O's Original made the list.

The rest of the category had some explaining to do. Nearly every cereal tested, 76 out of 77, contained acrylamide, with wheat and oat cereals running about 2.5 times higher than rice or corn.

Clean Label Project built the Honor Roll around two things at once:

  • Ingredient quality and nutritional value, low sugar, real protein, real fiber

  • Contaminant levels, the heavy metals and pesticides most labels never mention

A product can be low in contaminants and still be mostly sugar. It can be high in protein and still carry heavy metals. The four cereals on this list had to clear both bars.

Power O's Original is bean-based, not grain-based, which is part of why it tests differently than most of the category. Five grams of plant protein and four grams of fiber per serving, no artificial ingredients, no seed oils.

Now backed by an independent lab that bought it off the shelf and ran it against everything else in the aisle.

We don't think one report makes a brand. It's one data point in a much longer effort to earn the trust we're asking for. We'll keep testing, keep publishing what we find, and keep showing up for the next one!
